It’s a wonderful time to be alive for many reasons. In this age of politics, religion, and stressful illnesses that can take their toll on the body let’s be grateful for our newly blossoming marijuana markets.
With the laws changing across the country, with 25 states already having legalized marijuana in some form, it was only a matter of time before foodies took to the kitchens and started getting creative. We are going to take a look at some of the most delicious beverages our inventive mixologist have come up with to date.
I have tried them all personally and I have to say, I am beyond ecstatic to try any new marijuana-infused cocktails and marijuana mocktails that come to be invented.
To make these delightful drinks in your own kitchen, as long as it’s legal in your state to consume marijuana that is, you will need to make yourself a simple syrup and infuse it with marijuana. It’s quick and easy to make, and the long-term payoff is worth it even if you find it difficult.
You’ll need to boil 3 cups of water and 3 cups of sugar together until the sugar is completely dissolved. Add 2 tablespoons of finely chopped or ground up buds to the sugary mixture and lower the temp on the stove to keep it from over boiling and damaging the THC (we don’t want that!) cover the pot and let it simmer for 20 minutes. Add in your vegetable ether next and keep it covered, stirring the concoction ever minute or so for about 5 minutes.
Once you have this all done you’ll strain the mixture through a cheese cloth or strainer into the container you want to use to store your freshly made marijuana syrup. With that all done, now it’s time to get into the kitchen and get to mixin’.
Let’s start with a couple of virgin mixes for those who are old enough to take a puff or two but not old enough to take a shot or two.
Do you love smoothies? Of course, you do. Who doesn’t?
You should enjoy the Cannabis Smoothie then. With an amazingly simple blend of milk, half & half, plain yogurt, blueberries, bananas, strawberries, honey, ice and pot this is a great way to get that healthy balanced breakfast into your body and also provides an excellent way to take away those aches and pains that only marijuana can provide.
I wouldn’t recommend drinking this one though unless you have the day off of work.
In the 1950’s a Malibu Mule was a happy drink to serve at parties.
For the pot-lovers version, though, we have changed the ingredient list from using ginger ale to using ginger syrup. But it is, even more, deliciousness than before. You’d take one part ginger syrup, two parts lime juice, and four parts cannabis syrup and mix them all together with club soda to taste.
Serve it with a slice of orange of the cup and you have a drink that will make you reminiscent of summer under the bungalows of an old antebellum estate. I loved this one, it really did remind me of summer in the south.
Traditional pot tea could play too many people’s tastes.
It would have to be considered the easiest one on the list as far as how hard it is to make.
Just grab a bag of your favorite tea, whether it’s earl gray or something from the Sleepytime line of teas. You can just make it taste but instead of using sugar to sweeten it, you would use your marijuana-infused syrup. It will give you a warm and fuzzy feeling that you won’t soon be able to shake.
If you want to go all out make a tea cappuccino
The Cannabis Cup sounds like a competition’s first place prize and tastes even better.
For this kooky concoction, you would take four parts cannabis syrup, lime juice and mix it with sparkling water. Its beautiful color is second only to its refreshingly light taste that will leave your body and mind reeling with a summer symphony that can’t be forgotten.
I loved this one for its vibrancy but its earthy taste was a bit more than I personally have a pallet for, but that’s just my taste buds, I know plenty of people who have said it was the best drink they have ever had.
An Almond Joy sounds like your favorite candy bar from your long forgotten past.
This drink, however, will only make you forget if you have infused the virgin marijuana-infused mocktail with alcohol, and the good news is that it can be served either way. Start with cannabis infused coconut crème, chocolate syrup and finish it off with almond milk for a dreamy, creamy drink that will take you back to childhood. You can add either Kalua or Amaretto to take you way, way back and pop your alcohol consuming cherry.
I personally preferred the virgin version myself, simply because that much sugar shouldn’t be mixed with alcohol in my mind. The THC in it though did seem to prevent the usual hangover I associate with sugary boozy drinks.
For these next few we will be talking about marijuana-infused cocktails.
That being said, though, I have found a few that I liked the taste of, I just learned to not get drunk on them and it seemed to make a big difference.
Instead of using marijuana-infused syrup, though, these drinks call for marijuana-infused booze. They often use marijuana-infused vodka for these drinks because it provides a very neutral pallet to start building on. Mixologist also like to use marijuana-infused rum in a lot of their drinks and I have to agree that just drinking it straight by itself is always delicious.
But hey, I know a lot of people out there just don’t have the stomach for straight up alcohol by the shot like I do and for those people, I totally understand. I wouldn’t recommend that you order marijuana-infused vodka or rum straight over ice as a great drink idea ever unless your as tough as I am that is.

To infuse your alcohol with marijuana there are lots of available methods.
Most of them require a few hours of time to prepare them but I am not that ambitious to be quite honest. I personally recommend just taking your favorite strains of bud, your favorite brand of vodka, rum, or anything else. You’ll take the alcohol you want to infuse, about a half an ounce of pot per container (maybe less if you’re using the high-end strains), and grab as many mason jars as you have brands of booze.
You’ll take your buds and grind them up and put them in the jar and pour your rum or vodka over the top. Fill the jars up and twist the lids on them tight enough they won’t leak and store them in a dark cabinet or closet.
Remember that the stronger the strain of bud, the stronger the infusion will be. Remember too that in this case, patience is a virtue. The longer you can leave the jars alone, the stronger effects will be. Leave them alone for at least two weeks, though.
Once you feel like you can’t wait any longer, it’s time to take them out of the closet (nothing likes having to stay in a closet longer than necessary), grab a coffee filter and pour the newly infused alcohol through it to make sure you have separated all of the ground up bud from it. That it for that recipe. Even easier than you thought isn’t it. If you lack patience, that’s ok too. As I said, there are many ways you can accomplish the task and most of them can be accomplished in just a few hours.
The Lawn Mower sounds like something you pay a teenager to do during the summer.
However, I have to tell you that it is pretty danged tasty. It was created by the vegan movement so you can imagine that it takes vegetables to make it. They take the pot, carrots, apples, ginger, lemon and cannabis-infused vodka and mix it together for a vegan drink that will knock you straight into a pair of flip flops.
I liked the refreshing taste of this particular drink and I was even able to partake in more than one for a change.
If you have ever read high times, you know they have a reputation for having an awesome ball playing team.
What you may not know is they have come up with a crazy drink called a Bonghitters Mota Mojito. It takes cannabis infused rum, key lime juice, sugar, fresh mint, sugar, and ice.
This drink, this OMG-this-is-amazing drink, there are no words. If you have ever spent a long day out on a ball field and wanted nothing more than an icy drink to cool off at the end of the day, this is the drink for you. I loved it. There was nothing that could be left to improve on for this one.

If you are into the simple pleasures in life, you can try out a marijuana-infused hard lemonade too.
To make it is as easy as making your moms lemonade and then adding your freshly infused vodka and for an even more potent drink, you could use your simple marijuana-infused syrup to sweeten it instead of plain granulated sugar.
This is hands down the best summer drink I could ever think to make. It’s crisp and refreshing but oh so relaxing at the same time.
How could you possibly go wrong with that combination?
If you’re a coffee lover, you could also throw together your own Irish coffee too.
You would take and infuse your whiskey, my personal favorite for the recipe is Jameson whiskey, and hot coffee mixed together. To sweeten it I would, yet again, use our marijuana-infused syrup to sweeten it up. Top it off with whipped cream and oh my GAW!
How can I just now be discovering that my three favorite things can be mixed together?
I swear this drink was invented just to send me straight into heaven!
Shiva’s Sativa Bhang may sound rude but I assure you it is anything but.
Take warm milk, pot, chopped almonds, masala, powdered ginger root, rose water and sugar (which could be replaced by your simple marijuana-infused syrup) and gives you a relaxing drink that even your mother would enjoy.
I am not a fan of warm milk or rose water, but somehow this drink makes it work in magical ways.
For those cold winter nights, and frozen winter days there is nothing that could possibly warm you up better than marijuana-infused hot chocolate.
You would take milk, canna butter, half & half and about 2 grams of ground pot. This drink will sit you down, relax you in ways that a massage never could. Your mother never told you about hot chocolate like this.
I love this drink more than any other on this list. The creamy liquid, the whipped cream topping, it’s by far and wide my favorite.
It really is a great time to be alive if you are anything like me and even half as exciting about the possibilities as I am when it comes to finding new receipts that can incorporate our favorite drinks, our favorite foods, and medications that bring people into better health.
The long and the short of it is simple. There are hundreds of drinks you can try infusing marijuana into. There will never be a limit to what you can do with just a simple marijuana-infused syrup.
